Chilitos: Jamaican + Mexican Deliciousness

I took a break from rice and peas and patties for something a little different. Chilitos, a Jamexican (Jamaican – Mexican fusion) restaurant has been on my radar for some time, from personal recommendation, blog write ups and Kartel took one of the Teacha’s Pet  contestants there for a date (don’t judge me for watching :-/). I love both Jamaican and Mexican food and happily made the trek up Hope Road to get my nyam on.

Owned by a brother-sister duo of Jamaican and Mexican decent, Chilitos offers burritos, tacos, flautas, gorditas and more Mexican dishes with a Jamaican twist. I opted for 4 tacos — one beef, one grilled chicken and two jerk chicken.  As I inched down the taco assembly line, she piled on the cheese, lettuce, sour cream and fresh salsa. I grabbed an ice red stripe and went to work…YUM!

The Jerk chicken tacos were by far the best. There was just an extra kick of spiciness to really set it off. My friend opted for the Chicken fajita burrito. It was huge and reminded me of the monstrous burritos I would get from Chipole, but again the jerk chicken made it even better.

The HUGE Fajita burrito! Rice, beans, cooked veggies, jerk chicken…YUMMAY!

Good food is enough for me, but the venue is even pretty awesome. It looks like one of those places where all the cool kids hang. I really loved the wall of album covers and the over all ambiance and laid back vibes. The music selection was varied, but there was a prominent presence of Pitbull and other similar tunes getting some airtime.

Just a short taxi up from my apartment (or not too bad walk), I see a lot more visits to Chilitos in my immediate future for Margarita Monday and Taco Tuesday — YUM!

Wow! I stumbled upon this page looking for something else. I just finished a couple of delicious quesadillas from the corner lady (near Mexico City); who has a puesto where she makes tacos, quesadillas, pambazos, gorditas and other delicacies to order.
