In the fall of 2010, I vowed to make every effort to travel to 30 countries by my 30th birthday (April 7th, 2012). This challenge came about, not because I’m obsessed with marking countries off a list or comparing my number with others, but because I am absolutely addicted to travel and somehow had let life get in the way of fulfilling that passion. There’s nothing quite like exploring a new place, meeting new people and truly immersing yourself in a different culture — the food, music, dance, history — and no reason to wait until I’m 65 and retired to do so.
With a full-time job, it won’t be an easy task. However, whether I make 30 by 30 or not, I have already accomplished the most important goal — no longer making excuses for not living the life I want. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you put your thoughts AND actions towards a goal…
I encourage you all to set your own travel (and life) goals. Go after the unthinkable, the unpopular, the impossible or whatever your heart desires…and make it a reality!
