Travel Playlist: Das Racist

DBP has introdced me to yet another pretty freaking awesome group, Das Racist. The Brooklyn based trio, Queens-born Himanshu Suri, San Francisco native Victor Vazquez and hype man Ashok Kondabolu aka Dap, rose to internet fame in 2008 with Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. Not exactly one of my favorites, but their subsequent work has drawn me in.  It’s just…I don’t know….different.  Unconventional, silly, intellectual, and makes me want to do a little two step.

We’re not making music that’s instantly appealing. We dabble with nonsequiturs, dadaism, repetition, repetition. We make dance music while talking about not-dancey things. We say things that on the surface can seem pretty dumb but it’s a mask on some Paul Laurence Dunbar sh*t for actual discontent with a lot of shit in the world. Further, not a lot of people want to hear rappers talk about Dinesh D’Souzabeing a punk, Eddie Said, Gayatri Spivak being dope or even know who they are. A lot of people hear Pizza Hut Taco Bell and then have preconceived notions about our entire body of work that fall pretty flat.

Check out two of my faves, “Who’s that? Brown”  (play the video game here)…

and “Shorty Said”.

What do you think?

Today there is lot of unsuspected state which force individuals to take medicines. What can we order without prescription? There are sundry drugs for male emasculation cure. If you’re concerned about sexual problem, you have to learn about “viagra substitute” and “where to buy viagra“. What is the most substantial information you must know about “how to get viagra“? Don’t forget, view “where to get viagra“. What are the treatments sexual problems? The most common unwanted side effects of such medications like Viagra is stuffy or runny nose. Contact local soundness care provider if you have any dangerous side effect that bothers you. Do not keep out-of-date medicaments. Take them to your local apothecary which will dispose of them for you.

  • Great music! “Pizza Hut & Taco Bell” is genius and “Who’s That? Brown” has a catchy sound and I love the concept for the video. Last song, ehh… Well I’m always on the lookout for good underground music that doesn’t conform to pop culture. More pls.
